Description: Scarce Floyd "Jelly" Gardner single signature baseball c.1922. Toned red and blue stitched baseball of Official Major League quality signed, "Floyd Gardner to pal Roy Jackson". Signature and inscription rate 4 out of 10, ball also has date of 1922 on sweet spot and a few other period notations incl. "To my pal and Friend Jack", Gardner was a star outfielder and leadoff hitter who played from 1919-1933 for various teams incl. Chicago American Giants and Homestead Grays. Ball was signed to Roy Jackson who was another African American player (see Negro League ball from our Feb. 2003 auction): VG
