Description: Imperial cabinet presentational photograph of the 1888 New York Giants by Joseph Hall. This photograph is particulary important both because of its' extraordinary size (20"x25") and because it was likely taken in connection with the Oct. 14, 1888 New York Giants dinner at which De Wolf Hopper first recited "Casey at the Bat". It was reported that as Hopper was about to recite the famous anticlimactic last line that Buck Ewing's mustache was observed to twitch. Along with Ewing are pictured HOF'ers Ward, O'Rourke, and Connor all beneath a banner proclaiming the 1888 Giants "The Champions for 1889" as was customary. Image exhibits superb contrast and clarity with (2) small repairs to the top left, mount has some typical age wear to edges all of which could easily be matted out. To our knowledge this is the only copy of this large format image known: VG/EX-EX
