Description: Significant Babe Ruth vintage photograph by Nat Fein c.1948. Striking image of Ruth holding his hat by his side and leaning on a bat ranks as one of the most famous images in baseball history. The moment was captured on June 13, 1948 when Ruth attended a celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of his house, Yankee Stadium. Babe was extremely frail at this point as the ravages of throat cancer consumed his body and was helped into uniform and onto the field. Horizontal image measures 9"x12" with exceptional contrast and clarity, signed "Nat Fein" at bottom right. Has (3) minor surface wrinkles (one of which has tiny area of inpainting) and has been archivally matted and beautifully framed. A benchmark of baseball photography, the offered image was acquired from Fein in 1994 and at the time was one of only two vintage prints in his posession: EX
