Description: Henry Louis Gehrig bronze sculpture by R.P. Daus c.1988. Substantive bronze likeness of Gehrig mounted atop green "marbled" alabaster base stands approx. 16" tall with 11" footprint. Lettered "The Pride of the Yankees" along with "Grand Slam" as originally marketed through the Sporting News. Artist facsimile "R.P.Daus" signature and foundry hallmarks stamped within bronze base. Daus' work is highly regarded as evidenced by the "Fireman's Memorial" sculpture which stands outside of City Hall in St. Louis.
