Description: 1960-61 Bill Russell U.S. Basketball Writers Association "Most Valuable Player" Award. Significant honor as bestowed upon Russell for his achievements during the 1960-61 season. He would lead the Boston Celtics to their third NBA Championship in (4) seasons. Russell averaged (16.9) points, scoring a total of (1,322), and (23.9) rebounds per game. Wooden placard (10.25"x12") has a basketball player in relief at the top surrounded by figural garland that emanates from an incised "Basketball Writers Association" logo. Below is an engraved metal plate reading "U.S. Basketball Writers Association Award To Most Valuable Player National Basketball Association, 1960-61, Bill Russell, Boston Celtics."
