Description: Significant 1955 Bill Russell University of San Francisco All-American Award (First All-American Award/NCAA Championship Season) Original award presented to Russell for his groundbreaking 1955 collegiate season in which he captured All-American honors and led the University of San Francisco team to NCAA Championship. Laminated composite plaque is inscribed to Russell and hand signed (under laminate) by Chuck Taylor. Russell was elected to the first team with all recipients printed at left side. 8"x11" retaining its original easel backstand with some light age toning and handling wear present. Russell's 1955 season remains one of the most dominant in NCAA history in which he was named as the outstanding college player for the year. **NOTE: This is one of two identical copies (other than Chuck Taylor signature) presented to Russell for the 1955 season. Based on comparison of the two, and lack of wear on second example, we believe this to be the first copy with additional example being duplicate copy sent for an unknown reason.
