Description: 1942 George Selkirk New York Yankees professional model home jersey (Scare Retired Ruth Uniform #3)(SGC/Grob: Very Good). Pinstriped home jersey has the "NY" logo on left front chest and number "3" on back. In the collar are "Spalding" and size "44" tags. An embroidered strip tag below reads "G Selkirk." George Selkirk was the one of only a handful of players to have worn the famed number "3" before it was retired by the Yankees in honor of Babe Ruth. Both the Yankees crest and number on this jersey have been expertly restored and the Health patch on left sleeve, while an original example, is likely a replacement. Use and wash wear are evident throughout with some very minor thinning of the material to a few spots in the neck mentioned largely for accuracy. A small hole in the front chest has been stabilized with a small piece of material added. A notably rare offering of a period Yankees flannel with outstanding display value.
