Description: 1927 Chic Gandil handwritten letter with baseball content. Handwritten letter dated 1927 fills a sheet of 8.5"x11" stationary with a partial "Chino Club Hurley" team name at the top. Following a lifetime ban from Major League Baseball due to involvement in the 1919 World Series "Black Sox" scandal, Gandil served as Manager of the Mexican League team. Signed at the close "Sincerely Chic Gandil" with content reading in part, "...I am in need of a 3rd base man and I can use you providing you don't want to much money. Our schedule calls for 3 games per week and season opens April 29th...I expect to have the club working out by the 7th..." Handwriting and signature rate 8-8/9 out of 10. The letter has remnants of scrapbook page mounting on the back along with a small image of Gandil. An area of paper loss at the top is reinforced by additional material from behind.
