Lot Number: 41

Description: 1926 Hap Felsch handwritten letter. Handwritten letter filling the front and back of a 5.5"x7" sheet of paper is dated 3/25/26 and addressed "Friend John." Signed at the close "Your Friend Hap" with content related to work that Felsch was evidently seeking and had written several unanswered letters with regard to. Handwriting and signature rate 7/8 out of 10 and there are typical mailing folds and a touch of other light wear. An original mailing envelope addressed to "Mr. John Meyers" accompanies however the postmark dates to a month before the letter was written. Felsch was among the best hitters in the American League in the later part of the 1910s and was highly regarded for his play in the outfield. A member of the White Sox 1917 World Series Championship team, he helped lead them to a repeat appearance in 1919. His place in baseball's history was secured when he and fellow "Black Sox" players conspired to throw games and he was ultimately banned from the game for life.
