Description: 1929 Eric McNair Philadelphia Athletics "Baseball Champions" wristwatch. Period watch marked "Bailey, Banks, & Biddle Hamilton" on the face is engraved "Eric McNair, Athletics, Baseball Champions, World Series, 1929" on the back. A "Sterling Wadsworth" stamp is inside. General wear to casing and the face corrosion throughout along with other mild damage. The crystal, which could likely be replaced, has toning/discoloration. After starting the 1929 season with Minor League stints in Memphis and Knoxville Eric McNair was called up to the Athletics late in the year. Added to the regular season roster too late to be added to their World Series roster Connie Mack and John Shibe arranged for him to serve as an usher so that he could watch the team play. He would eventually abandon that duty and take a seat in the aisle to watch the games. Includes letter of provenance from the McNair Family: GD with note to description
