Description: Extremely rare 1914 B18 Blankets Ty Cobb with red infield - perhaps the finest condition example known (ex-Copeland Collection). Notable rarity featuring Cobb as a member of the Detroit Tigers with the infield done in red as opposed to the commonly seen white version. It is estimated that there are less than a dozen known of the red infield Cobb and they may in fact number as few as half of that. The offered remains in exceptional condition and may represent the finest extant with literally no mentionable wear visible on front aside from a faint fold line which is the result of the manner in which is was issued. It is uncommonly well centered for the issue on both front and back. The fold is slightly more evident when viewing from the back as it is minimally discolored and there is some very minor residue from where the piece was affixed to the Egyptienne Straights Cigarettes package with which it originally came. In many cases this residue, which is commonly found on B18 blankets, can be removed. A legendary rarity within the baseball collecting field and very rarely offered.
