Lot Number: 3

Description: Rare 1911 T212 Obak near complete set (173 of 175 cards). Popular and attractive set is the last of (3) which were issued annually and features players from the Pacific Coast League. Most notable among subjects is Buck Weaver who would become one of the games' most notorious figures by the end of the decade (the Weaver card has been graded "A" by SGC, presumably due to a suspected alteration). Consistent average GD-VG condition throughout due to varying degrees/types of wear and general range runs GD-VG/EX. Around a dozen cards have a stamp or other mark on back dropping technical grade and the Berry, Miller, and Wiggs cards grade PR/FR due to more notable flaws. The Patterson card is an interesting oddity with wet sheet transfer on the back provided a ghosted image similar to that which is on front. The Brown, Chadbourne, Hall, and Kippert cards appear to be on slightly different paper stock and may have been hand cut from a larger sheet. A seldom offered quantity of these highly sought after tobacco cards and the result of a dedicated effort toward putting together a complete set. Missing Ten Million and Thomas, Sacramento: Avg. GD-VG
