Description: Significant estate collection of (79) 1909 T204 Ramly cards with (11) different Hall of Famers including Walter Johnson and Eddie Plank. Substantial group of highly sought after Ramly Tobacco cards from one of the most visually appealing baseball cards sets ever produced. The collection numbers (80) cards in total and all but eight remain mounted to a paper stock backing (16”x22.25”), part of a display created decades ago (possibly done in the period of issue) and long preserved in a frame which accounts for the very sharp appearance of the fronts of nearly all cards. The majority of the cards were applied to the backing with the lower portion of each row slightly overlapping the top of the row below it. Eight of the cards were removed by the owner in advance of consignment with varying condition issues five of which are missing their top edge and the other two have had the front half of the card separate from the back. Notables include Eddie Plank, Johnny Evers, Willie Keeler, Clark Griffith, Frank Chance, Jimmy Collins (2), Jesse Burkett, Chief Bender, Walter Johnson, Joe Tinker, Mike Donlin, Gabby Street, Kid Elberfield, Bill Dineen, Jack Knight (2), Dick Hoblitzel, and Eddie Cicotte. An additional Hall of Famer (Miller Huggins) is among those which are no longer attached to the sheet. Whether left as an intact display or proceeding with professional conservation/removal the cumulative value of this unique offering by individual piece count is extraordinary.
