Description: Very fine 1970 Johnny Bench Cincinnati Reds National League Championship ring. Classic design features a .57ct diamond set at center of the red faux stone face which has "1970 Cincinnati Reds N.L. Champions" lettered around the beveled edge. In addition, an "MVP" designation was added for Bench on the lip just below the year (the first time we have seen a ring with this player specific feature added). The name "Bench" appears at the top of one shank in a banner like decoration with has "C" on one end (denoting catcher) and "5" on the other. Below is the Reds mascot logo and "Big Red Machine" text. Opposite has a relief of Riverfront stadium atop "Championship Series" titling and an abbreviated box score of all (3) Reds vs. Pirates games. Size (14) and weighs (35) grams. Hint of light wear. Johnny Bench enjoyed his finest statistical season of his career in 1970 batting .293 with 45 home runs and 148 RBIs to lead the Reds to the World Series. Although they were defeated by the powerful Baltimore Orioles team Bench was presented with the NL Most Valuable Player award for his exceptional season.
