Description: 1975 Johnny Bench "Lou Gehrig Award." Noteworthy presentational piece as awarded "To The Major League Player Who Most Exemplifies The Character of Lou Gehrig Both On and Off The Playing Field" has "Lou Gehrig Memorial Award" titling above a circular bronze bust of the Iron Horse. Nameplate at the bottom is engraved "Johnny Bench, 1975." The piece measures 12"x17" with a hint of light wear and has a "Balfour" marking on back. The 1975 season was one of the most memorable in Cincinnati Reds history as the team won their first World Series title since 1940 after claiming the National League pennant in both 1970 and 1972. Bench was a major force in the effort contributing (28) homeruns and (110) RBI offensively and earning a Gold Glove for his defensive play. Includes letter of provenance from Johnny Bench: EX/MT-NM
