Description: Rare 1963 Vin Scully Los Angeles Dodgers World Series ring. Sandy Koufax and the 1963 Dodgers team simply dominated the National League. The Dodgers finished 6 games ahead of the second place Cardinals and swept the powerful Yankees capturing their second World Championship since moving to Los Angeles in 1958. As much as the Dodgers excelled during the 1963 season it was exponentially so for their star left handed pitcher. Sandy Koufax completed the season with a record of 25-5, led the NL in ERA (1.88), shutouts (11), strikeouts (306), and earned the Cy Young and MVP awards for the National League. Vin Scully had also settled into his role with the Dodgers in Los Angeles continuing on his great success begun in Brooklyn. Vin was intrumental in bringing the Dodgers and Koufax's accomplishments of the 1963 season to the people of Los Angeles for which he received the offered World Series ring. Ring is of 14K white gold with solitaire .35 ct diamond on top within a baseball shaped diamond field on top of a blue background field. "Los Angeles World Champions" lettering encircles the top. One side panel displays crossed bat/ball decor with "Vin Scully" facsimile signature stamp. Other panel features 1963 above "4" and baseball graphic signifying the Dodgers sweep of the Yankees in the World Series. Interior ring band is stamped "Balfour 14k" and size measures at 8 with an interior ring sizer added at a later date which could be easily removed if so desired. Included within the PSA letter is suggestion of the possibility that the blue inset stone has possibly been replaced and is mentioned for accuracy only. In consultation with Vin Scully and upon further examination we believe the setting atop the blue stone simply rotated causing the aforementioned visual effect and is in fact original as issued. Ring overal presents very nicely with expected surface wear from use/polish. A monumental rarity and noted as the earliest World Series ring to be offered within the Scully collection.
