Lot Number: 28

Description: Vin Scully's personal Babe Ruth autographed cut signature (PSA/DNA). As Vin Scully vividly recalled, he was in attendance of a baseball game played at the Polo Grounds during his youth as a member of the Police Athletic League and Catholic Youth Leagues, both of which supplied game tickets on occasion to their young members. During one such game there was a commotion in the stands to which young Scully ran along with the other kids to see what was the cause of same. It was in fact Babe Ruth in street clothes attending the game and being thronged by a crowd of young fans. Ruth was handing out signed cards which at the time Scully believed to have been stamped as keepsake for his adoring fans. Over time, the Ruth stamped card was believed to have been lost. The card was recently discovered within the Scully family scrapbook and in fact was autographed by Ruth himself. Original unlined 2"x3 1/2" thin stock cardboard boldly signed by Ruth in black fountain pen. Signature rates 8/9 out of 10. Card itself has some minor soiling and a small amount of scrapbook residue on the reverse. One of the more desirable and well sourced Ruth autographs of any type that we have handled: Encapsulated by PSA/DNA with special Scully Collection labeling and includes letter of provenance from Vin Scully: NM
