Description: Superb 1909-11 T-206 Eddie Plank (SGC 5 EX). -Absolutely stunning example of a key rarity from the 1909-11 T-206 baseball tobacco card set secondary in significance only to the iconic Honus Wagner portrait card. Notably well centered example with strong registration displaying the rendering of Plank+s original image by Carl Horner against a uniform blue background. Minor corner wear to the top two with bottom two corners remaining fairly sharp. Sweet Caporal cigarettes 350 subject back presents nicely with even color and surface free of any mentionable defects save for a minor imperfection at top right corner area. The card was originally housed in a period scrapbook with- other T-206 cards accounting for its remarkable state of preservation and had some very minor surface adhesive residue on the back that was neatly removed some time ago which we note for the sake of extreme accuracy only. This particular specimen rates as the one of the highest graded T-206 Eddie Plank cards to have entered the marketplace with the record being set by a PSA 7 NM example which sold for $690,000 in September of 2018.- Additionally, the T-206 Plank card of such great scarcity that examples in any condition grade realize superb pricing levels ranking as one of the Holy Grails for vintage trading card enthusiasts. -This example rates as the second highest graded by SGC (one higher at 5.5) with higher PSA graded submissions at: PSA 8 (one), PSA 7 (three), and PSA 6 (three total, one having a qualifier). The combination of scarcity, visual eye appeal, and high condition grade for the offered Plank card place it squarely among the very finest baseball tobacco cards to have been offered at public auction: SGC 5 EX
