Lot Number: 29

Description: Rare 1923 New York Yankees team signed ledger page. Impressive compilation of autographs fill both front and back of an oversized sheet of lined paper (approximately 10"x14"). Page has "Tuesday October 16th 1923" date written along the top with "American League Baseball Club of New York, Yankee Team, Worlds Champions of 1923, and Friends" noted below. Just days before, the Yankees had won the first championship in franchise history which would mark the start of their 1920s and 30s domination of the American League. It has been signed by team members, executives, and a number of others (58 total) with notables including Babe Ruth, Ed Barrow, Miller Huggins, Joe Kelley (notably rare Hall of Famer who was then in contention to take over as manager), Jacob Ruppert, Charles O'Leary, Eddie Bennett, Bennie Bengough, George Pipgras, Joe Bush, Bob Shawkey, and others. All are done in period fountain pen rating 7 to 9 out of 10. The sheet is displayed in a double glazed 14.5"x18.25" frame (both sides visible) and has some evident chipping along the right edge (along with a small tear) and some moisture staining to the lower third. Absolutely incredible rarity from the Yankees first World Championship. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA: Sigs. VG-NM, Sheet VG
