Description: Fine Roger Maris professional model baseball bat c.1961-63 (PSA/DNA GU9.5). Louisville Slugger 125 model bat used during the period in which Roger Maris reached the pinnacle of his record setting career with the New York Yankees. Bat measures 35" long and weighs 32.1 oz. with outstanding evident use including ball marks, stitching impressions, very slight handle crack, blue Yankee Stadium bat rack marks, cleat marks, and a heavy coat of pine tar to the handle area. Model A92 is stamped on the knob end along with "9/1" indicative of Maris' uniform number and designating the bat as his first choice for use as seen on other player bats. The "9/1" is seen on both the knob and barrel ends in faded marker and a more bold version which was added at a later date likely after the bat was cracked. This particular bat originated from the Kelinfeld family in New Jersey who had received the bat as a gift from Maris in 1962. Superb Maris game bat which exhibits numerous specifically identifiable traits to other documented Maris bats of this type. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA (GU9.5): EX
