Description: Important 1982 Steve Carlton Cy Young Award. Original presentational award given to Carlton in recognition of his outstanding pitching accomplishment for the 1982 season. Black painted wooden plaque with affixed silver plated figural pitching arm positioned above placard which reads in relief, "Presented to Steve Carlton Most Valuable Pitcher American League 1982". Measures 16.5"x 13.25" and retains "Balfour" manufacturer's embossed labeling on back. Incidental scattered light wear and minimal tarnish. Carlton's 1982 season was completely dominant as he captured his fourth career Cy Young Award behind a stat line of 23 wins and 286 strikeouts. Highly desirable piece representing one of the most recognizable high honors which can be bestowed upon an athlete across the entire spectrum of sport.
