Description: Rare 1951 Robin Roberts Philadelphia Phillies professional model road jersey (SGC/Grob: Excellent). Grey flannel jersey has the "Phillies" team name across the front and number "36" on back. On the left sleeve is a an original National League 75th Anniversary patch which has been expertly replaced. A "Roberts - 51" embroidered strip tag appears on the collar and Wilson tag on front tail notes size, "44." In fine overall condition with usage and wash wear evident throughout and a small repaired hole on the front. Roberts remains one of the most revered figures in franchise history ranking among the most accomplished and durable hurlers of his era. In our 28 year company history we have handled less than five Roberts game jerseys of quality with this example ranking among the finer of that group. Additionally, as Dave Grob notes within the SGC letter of authenticity, this partictular Roberts jersey is one of the earliest known with special note to its extremely scarce NL Anniversary patch.
