Description: Baseball Hall of Fame folk art registration desk c.1939. Hand crafted wall mount desk served as the sign in desk at the Baseball Hall of Fame from the time of its' opening in 1939 until around 1980 when it was removed due to remodeling. Standing around three and half feet tall the writing surface extends out 19.5" and is supported by a pair of baseball bat figural legs. The upright back has a pair of baseball decorations on either end and a "Register Here" metal placard at center. In fine overall condition with original surfaces and wear consistent with long term use as intended. Includes letter of provenance from the Cooperstown, NY store owner that acquired it from the Hall of Fame in 1981 and an additional from the collector to whom he sold it and has owned the piece since 1997: EXEstimated Price Range: ($10,000-$20,000)
