Description: 1910 Rube Oldring Philadelphia Athletics "World's Champions" presentational trophy. Important trophy as presented to Oldring who was with the Athletics from 1906 to 1916. The 1910 season was far and away his finest when he hit .308 and helped the club to one of four World Series in which they would play while he was on the team. He did not appear in the 1910 Series after suffering an injury playing in an exhibition game arranged by Connie Mack to help prepare his boys for their impending match-up against Chicago. He did play in the 1911, 13, and 14 World Series, two of which (1911 and 13) were won by Philadelphia. Three handled trophy cup stands 8" tall and is engraved, "Presented By The Citizens Of Philadelphia To Reuben N. Oldring, World's Champions, The American Base Ball Club Of Philadelphia, Season 1910." A raised seal of the City of Philadelphia sits at center. On either side are applied decorations including a pair of crossed bats and ball and an enameled Athletics logo flag. Marked on the underside, "J.E. Caldwell...Silver Plate." In fine overall condition with little mentionable wear. One of perhaps two or three of these trophies to have surfaced and among the more visually appealing early Championship pieces we have seen: EX/MT
