Description: 1889 Spalding World Tourists at The Sphinx photograph. Large format sepia toned photograph is one of the defining baseball images of the period showing Tour participants, including uniformed players, posed around the famed desert monument. Tastefully framed to 16.5"x21.5" for display, the visible area (approx. 9.25"x13") shows light toning and significant wear to the lower right portion including a pair of large tears and some chipping/creases. Captioned along the lower edge however this is not visible as it is situated below the matting (in efforts to cover some of the damage and safely secure the piece within the frame). One of only a handful of original examples extant and the first we have offered in some time. From the collection of Tour participant Tom Daly and will include a letter of provenance from the Daly Family: GDEstimated Price Range: ($4,000-$6,000)
