Lot Number: 30

Description: Superlative Babe Ruth 60th Home Run autographed photograph. Large format 10"x13" sepia tone image picturing Ruth belting his record setting 60th home run during the 1927 season. The photo has been signed in blue fountain pen at top center, "My 60th Home Run To Juanita and Charles Sincerely Babe Ruth 1927". Inscription and signature present beautifully, rating 8 out of 10 with no mentionable defects. It was the final game of the American League regular season played on September 30, 1927 between the New York Yankees and Washington Senators. Ruth came to bat in the eighth inning and crushed a Tom Zachary pitch into the bleachers for the record setting home run. Although the record would be eclipsed by Roger Maris in 1961, Babe Ruth+s 1927 season remains to date the most heralded in the history of the game. Signed images with denotation to the 60th home run are exceedingly scarce with very few having entered the marketplace. With this particular image originating from the Ruth family collection we are inherently confident in classifying it as the absolute finest of its type. Includes full LOA from PSA and letter of provenance from the Ruth family: NM
