Lot Number: 110

Description: Babe Ruth's personal c.1930s suitcase (autographed) - likely used on the famed 1934 Tour of Japan. Sturdy leather covered suitcase was well traveled and, by appearances, we can presume it likely to have accompanied Babe Ruth on his journey to Japan alongside a roster of other famous players who barnstormed across the Country introducing baseball to its masses. A number of period c.1930s labels are affixed (mostly to the front) to include one from "Canadian Pacific", which has his handwritten, "Mr. & Mrs. Babe Ruth + daughter" autograph notation. This is the same Company which owned the RMS Empress of Japan, the ship which carried the team on their landmark tour. Additional decals applied to the front include (6) hotels which were located in Japan including "Hotel New Grands" where the team is documented to have stayed. Other decals indicate stops in Batavia, London, St. Moritz, and Bali. A second Ruth handwritten address/signature appears on a decal which has been largely covered by several others. Mild general surface wear (as expected given use as intended) and some general age related wear throughout. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA and letter of provenance from the Ruth Family: EX
