Description: Rare Bob Meusel professional model baseball bat c.1921-31 (MEARS "A8"). Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with Meusel facsimile signature burned into the barrel measures 34" long and weighs 33.4oz. Strong usage wear is evident throughout with visible ball and cleats marks along with a hint of grain swelling. Both the handle and hitting surface were scored in the period. A minor crack to the upper handle is secured with several vintage nails. Factory sidewriting has largely faded from but is identified as relating to Evar Swanson, a teammate of Meusel in 1929 and 30. Further, the bat is vault marked "S43" on either end. Playing in the shadow of Ruth and Gehrig throughout the 1920s, Bob Meusel was a core member of the New York Yankees fabled "Murderers Row." During his time with the club they won (6) American League and (3) World Series Championship titles. A notably rare signature model and one of only a few to have surfaced. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions, John Taube, and MEARS (graded "A8"): EX
