Description: Significant Michael Jordan autographed UNC Tarheels sneakers from his NCAA Championship Freshman season c.1981-82. Pair of white leather Converse All-Stars have each been signed on the outer heel, "Michael Jordan" and inscribed "1982 NCAA Championship" in ink rating 8 out of 10. Size (12.5) with light evident usage wear remaining in an outstanding state of overall preservation. An included letter of provenance relays that they were gifted to a store owner near Chapel Hill, NC just after the 1982 season and traces ownership to the present day. Jordan joined Legendary Coach Dean Smith and the Tarheels for the 1981 season and would lead them to the 1981-82 NCAA Championship. For his efforts he was named ACC Freshman of The Year. He spent a total of (3) seasons playing at the school averaging 17.7 PPG and was a consensus All-American his Sophomore and Junior years. On the cusp of immortality Jordan entered the NBA Draft one year shy of graduation and remarkably the man who would go on to be called the greatest of all-time was not selected until the third pick. The ensuing years saw record books completely rewritten and the sport changed forever as Jordan cemented his legacy as one of the great names in American sports history. The offered represent what are very likely the earliest documented Jordan sneakers to have surfaced with particular note to his own handwritten "1982" dated inscription. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions, letter of provenance, and individual LOAs from PSA/DNA: Sneakers EX, Sigs. EX/MT-NM
