Description: Pittsburgh Pirates professional model batting helmet attributed to Bill Mazeroski c.1960. Scarce "flocked" surface black batting helmet which was obtained during the magical 1960 season in which the Pirates won the World Championship directly from a team source. Helmet shows heavy use including surface wear and two small cracks at intersection with body of helmet. Front of helmet displays vestiges of the yellow "P" on front which coudl be restored if so desired. Interior retains its American Baseball Cap label and center head padding with vintage "9" written in black marker. Missing interior headband leather padding. The offered helmet was obtained directly by our consignor during the 1960 season (also the 1960 Pirates World Series programs, ticket, and pennant in this auction) and has not been altered in any fashion. Notably rarity from the hero of the 1960 World Series Bill Mazeroski. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions and letter of provenance from the original recipient: VG
