Description: Al Lopez attributed professional model catcher's mitt (MEARS "Authentic") c.1939. Top of the line Spalding mitt with laced webbing has "Professional Model" stamped on. Highly unusual wrist strap configuration features a padded liner on which "Al Lopez 1939" has been written in period ink (misspelled "Lopes"). An included letter of provenance relays that glove comes from the collection of Jim Turner with whom Lopez played from 1937 to 1939. In fine overall condition with strong usage wear evident throughout. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions and MEARS ("Authentic") and a letter of provenance: EXEstimated Price Range: ($2,000-$4,000)
