Lot Number: 255

Description: Exceedingly rare Bobby Wallace attributed professional model baseball bat c.1905-1910 (PSA/DNA). Louisville Slugger bat displaying an early double dash-dot-dash "Made By J.F. Hillerich & Son" center brand measures 35" long and weighs 38oz. The name "Wallace" is block lettered into the barrel consistent with bats that would have been issued to Hall of Famer Bobby Wallace whom never signed an endorsement contract with Louisville Slugger. Strong usage wear is evident throughout with some grain swelling and a handle crack. Wallace broke into the Major Leagues pitching alongside Cy Young with the Cleveland Spiders in 1894 but would soon shift to infield positions. There he excelled and in total would play for (25) seasons, one of the longest careers in baseball history, spending time with both the St. Louis Browns and Cardinals. An exceptional rarity and one of perhaps only two or three Wallace game bats to have surfaced. For accuracy, it is recognized within the PSA/DNA letter that one other ±Wallacee did play in the Major Leagues within a similar time period as well as a few in the Minor Leagues. Based on the aforementioned attributes we firmly believe the offered bat is in fact Bobby Wallace but reference this information for the sake of accuracy. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions and PSA/DNA: EX
