Description: 1978 All-Star Game MVP Award presented to Steve Garvey. Attractive wooden trophy as presented to Garvey for his efforts in the game which was played on July 11th in San Diego. The piece stands 18" tall with 7.75" square base that has triangular metal placard affixed at the front reading, "Steve Garvey Los Angeles Dodgers." Atop the upper portion is a red, white, and blue painted logo with impressed/engraved text below reading "baseball, The Commissioner's Award, Most Valuable Player, All Star Game 1978." Signed on the back, "Steve Garvey" in marker rating 8 out of 10 with a touch of light wear. Original "Balfour" label remains in place on the underside. An exceedingly rare trophy and one of a very few representing this substantial honor to have entered the marketplace.
