Description: 1951 Fred Fitzsimmons New York Giants professional model road uniform. Desirable all original and complete uniform dating to the Giants National League Championship season. Grey flannel jersey has "New York" lettered across the front and number "6" on back. MacGregor Goldsmith tag in the collar notes size (48) and a "Fitzsimmons" embroidered strip tag is below. "Set 2 1951" flag tag is sewn on the inside front tail. Matching pants bear (3) identical tags (size noted as 40). A custom pocket has been fitted just below the waistline on right hand side, a period modification done by the manufacturer and the first time we have seen this. Exceptional overall condition with a touch of light toning and some other very minor scattered wear/imperfections. Given the lack of sleeve patch, as worn League wide in 1951, it is possible that this was a secondary uniform which went unused and has resulted in the seldom seen state of preservation in which it remains.
