Description: Fine Johnny Bench professional model baseball bat c.1977-79. Louisville Slugger 125 model B278 bat with Bench facsimile signature burned into the barrel measures 35" long and weighs 32.8oz. Exceptional usage wear throughout with the entire hitting surface covered in ball and stitch marks and grain swelling due to repeated contact. In addition there are red rack streaks, among others, suggesting that bat saw time in the Cincinnati home dugout. Vintage coat of pine tar remains on handle which is cracked. Bench's number "5" is written on the knob in black marker. A museum quality example with substantial use and exemplary player characteristics.
