Description: Vida Blue 1971 American League Most Valuable Player award. Important original award presented in recognition of his 1971 season accomplishments measures 16" across with octagonal Sterling Silver placard affixed at front. A gold colored bust of K.M. Landis sits below the second base position of a baseball diamond which is titled "Most Valuable Player American League" and notes "Vida Blue" player and "Oakland Athletics" team names. The year "1971" appears in crossed bat and ball applique. Front is marked "Sterling" and the original "Dieges & Clust" label is on back below eyelet for hanging. Blue won (24) games with (8) coming by way of shutout and posted a League leading 1.82 ERA; also good enough to earned the Cy Young Award. In fine overall condition with a touch of light natural ageing and wear: EX/MT
