Description: Birdie Tebbets autographed rare mid-1950s Cincinnati Reds experimental model hat. Exceedingly rare style done in mesh with stitched on "C" team logo. The brim has red vinyl top and green underside which has been signed "Cinci xperimental cap 1954-6 Birdie Tebbets." Black marker signature rates 8/9 out of 10. Interior band is metal with no manfacturers tagging or markings visible. Cap displays what is likely some toning to the crown and a touch of other light natural age and handling wear. On the heels of a noted and lengthy playing career Birdie Tebbets assumed control of the Reds in 1954 and two seasons later was named Manager of The Year by the Baseball Writers. It was during this time period that this hat was issued and if not a unique survivor it remains one of a select few to exist.
