Description: Rare Babe Ruth autographed large format photograph dated 1947. Oversized black and white 16"x20" photograph displaying artlike clarity and strong contrast has been signed, "To My Good Friend Jack Lester, From Babe Ruth, 1947." Period fountain pen signature rates 6/7-7 out of 10. Lester was then the District Manager for the Ford Motor Company in Cincinnati and we have located an image of he and Ruth which is noted on back as being taken on August 4, 1947. Image itself shows a touch of extremely minor scattered wear (largely mentioned for accuracy) with a few scattered surface wrinkles. A flaw within the print (at upper edge) suggests that it is a second period print (though by nature done in 1947 or earlier). Given the obscure nature of printed photographs of such size relative to era, and the process involved in production, this is not at all unexpected. Exceedinly rare with this being one of a select few substantive photographs of Ruth in this large size which we have offered. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA: Photo EX/MT-NM, Sig.
