Description: Important September 9, 1965 Sandy Koufax autographed Perfect Game baseball. The six year stretch from 1961 to 1966 was simply dominated by Sandy Koufax. Taking the mound in Los Angeles on September 9, Koufax and Cubs pitcher Bob Hendley dueled for (9) innings with Chicago allowing just one run to score. It was all Koufax needed; for the 8th time in Major League history a perfect game was recorded and Jeff Torborg, then 23 years old and in his second season of play, was behind the plate catching. Following the game a photographer captured the moment when a timid Torborg can be seen in the locker room as Koufax inscribes a ball to his battery mate. Spalding W.Giles Official National League baseball displaying light but appropriate use/wear is inscribed on a side panel, "To Jeff, Best wishes + thanks for a good game" and signed on another "Sandy Koufax." Both signature and inscription have faded in the ensuing years - understandable as it was a prized keepsake of Torborg and long displayed within his home. "Perfect Game 1-0" is written across the sweetspot (by Torborg) along with some other game related notations which have faded as well. The signature/inscription(s) rate approx. 4/5-5 out of 10 and a small portion was gone over at a later date (clearly defined and in differently colored ink).
