Description: Important September 27, 1973 Nolan Ryan autographed record setting 383rd strikeout game ball. Significant baseball with succinct attribution to the historic game in which Nolan Ryan surpassed Sandy Koufax to set a modern era single season record with (383) strikeouts. With the exception of Ryan himself only one other pitcher has since come close (Randy Johnson, now retired), and there is no active pitcher who has come within even (100) strikeouts of equaling the record. Reach J.Cronin Official American League baseball has been signed with a lengthy inscription which fills a full two panels and crosses the sweetspot reading, "To Jeff, Thanks for helping make me a 20 game winner. I appreciate your effort and dedication, Nolan Ryan." Period ink signature rates 7 out of 10. Vintage notations, done in the hand of Jeff Torborg who caught the game, adorn two panels reading, "Major League Record set Sept. 27th vs. Minnesota" and "383 Strikeouts 1973." Expected soiling and usage wear evident throughout. Includes auction LOA from JSA (auto): Ball EX, Sig. EX/MT
