Lot Number: 212

Description: Fine 1978 Rod Carew Minnesota Twins professional model home jersey. White knit jersey has "Twins" lettered across the front in scripted logo font with player number "29" below. Number also appears on back below the name, "Carew." On the left sleeve is a team logo patch. "Wilson" manufacturer's tag in collar notes the size, "42", and a "78 3" embroidered year/set number strip tag is on front tail. Carew was the backbone of the Twins organization through all of his dozen seasons with the club starting in 1967 with his Rookie of The Year campaign. His first batting title was captured in 1969 and he never again hit less than .300 and won (6) more while with the team, was voted to (12) consecutive All-Star teams (a streak which extended to 18 after a move to California), and was named the 1977 American League MVP. His number 29 has been retired by both the Twins and California Angels. Jersey has usage and wash wear evident throughout and is well preserved offering outstanding display value. It has been relayed by our consignor, the Twins longtime equipment Manager, that this jersey was worn by Carew during his last home game played in Minnesota. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
