Description: Professional quality baseball glove attributed to Mel Parnell c.1950s. Wilson right hand model A2036 Lefty Gomez signature model glove is a top of the line example with leather wrist strap piping which surrounds a red lettered version of the company manufacturer's tag. "MEL" appears on the webbing, written in vintage black marker. Parnell can be seen on the January 1950 cover of Baseball Magazine using a glove identified in very similar (though differently placed) fashion. Strong usage wear evident throughout with intact tagging and well defined markings. Leather string which runs through fingers has split in a few places and it appears a small part near webbing may have been replaced long ago. A mainstay on the Red Sox pitching staff for (10) seasons, Parnell was a two time All-Star and still holds the club record for wins by a left hander.
