Description: Bobby Doerr autographed Boston Red Sox professional model hat (c.late 1940s-early 1950s). Rare and desirable style done in classic deep blue with red over white felt "B" logo sewn on front. Interior leather band retains original "Tim McAuliffe" tag and stamped on "Spalding" mark. A pair of period fountain pen notations list the size "6 7/8" and player name "Bob Doerr" (name partially faded due to use/age). In addition, Doerr has signed the underside of the brim in marker rating 7 to 7/8 out of 10. Evident usage and general age wear with some flaking and areas of loss to interior band and a pair of small holes (one to side of button on top, the other at extreme right of brim. Highly desirable piece as relates to the career of a legendary Boston figure and seldom offered with so strong an attribution.
