Description: Rare George Hughes Pittsburgh Steelers professional model jersey c. 1951-1954. Striking deep brown dureen jersey with golden satin twill numerals and three matching gold stripes on each sleeve. Original #40 affixed to both front an back with Wilson manufacturer's tagging inside crotch flap along with size 44 flag tag. The jersey presents beautifully in its original condition with evident use including surface impact markings and an incredible eleven vintage team repairs. Pittsburgh Steelers game jerseys from the 1940s era are markedly scarce with the offered example being the first we have handled.
