Description: 1936 Earle Combs handwritten letter to Joe Sewell with exceptional content. Three page handwritten letter on "Book-Cadillac Hotel" stationery dated September 12, 1936. Combs, then just (1) season into retirement from his playing days, was then a Coach with the Yankees whom were about to meet the Giants in the World Series. Reads in part, "...Looks like the Giants are going to squeeze in. We should beat them...Hubbell will be the main man...Lou has been in a terrible slump the last month, maybe he will come out of it..." He goes on to offer tickets to the Series and relate other team related goings on. Signed at the close, "Sincerely Earle" rating 8/9 out of 10. Light toning with typical mailing folds and includes original mailing envelope. Choice correspondence between a pair of Hall of Fame team mates. Includes auction LOA from JSA: EX/MT
