Description: 1939-1940 Leon Day signed Los Tiburones de Aguadilla Player's Contract. Original contract retaining the services of Hall of Famer Leon Day to play Winter League ball in Puerto Rico. Signed on the interior, "Leon Day" in period fountain pen along with the team President and a pair of witnesses. Signatures rate 8 to 8/9 out of 10. Contract itself has light even toning with some wear/chipping at corners/edges, one small tear (approximately 1/4" at right edge when closed), and filing holes punched at top. Desirable contract dating to the heart of his storied days in the Negro Leagues is believed to be the earliest as relates to his career to have been offered at auction. Worthy of note is that Day is depicted in an Aguadillas hat on his Hall of Fame plaque. Includes auction LOA from JSA: Contract VG/EX-EX, Sig. NM-MTEstimated Price Range: ($1,500-$2,500)
