Lot Number: 413

Description: Fine Pete Rose professional model baseball glove with outstanding provenance c.1979-1980. Rawlings Heart of the Hide model CMP left handed first baseman's mitt as used by Pete Rose while with the Philadelphia Phillies has his jersey number "14" written on in vintage black marker. Obtained in the period by Bobby Wine, who was then a coach with the team, directly from Rose. Wine relates that Rose swapped gloves as he was fond of the model Wine was using and sent it to a manufacturer to use as a template for his future orders. Wear is evident throughout with well formed pocket and expected surface scuffing and discoloration. "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag remains fully intact and all stampings are legible and well pronounced. One of the most difficult pieces of equipment to source directly to an individual, gloves carrying substantive provenance are seldom offered with this being one of the better we have offered as relates to a notable player. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions and letter of provenance from Bobby Wine: EX
