Description: 1958 Bill Mazeroski Gold Glove Award. Prestigious figural award as presented annually to the premier defensive players of the National and American League by position. Mahogany wooden plinth base displays a full size gilt painted Rawlings leather glove with "National League All Star Fielding Team" impressed black lettering. Figural baseball fielder affixed alongside figural brass free standing placard, "1958 Rawlings Gold Glove 2B Bill Mazeroski Pittsburgh Pirates The Sporting News National League All Star Fielding Team". The 1958 award was the first of Mazeroski's eight total achieved during his career. Additionally, the offered example is one of only a few years in which this particular design format was utilized with note to its stunning overall appearance. 17" long with very minimal surface wear mentioned for accuracy only. Includes original 1958 typewritten letter from Rawlings informing Mazeroski of his award along with vintage newspaper image picturing him receiving the award.
