Lot Number: 284

Description: Pittsburgh Pirates warm up jacket as worn by Bill Mazeroski. Rare original black wool jacket having white leather sleeves retaining its original embroidered gold "P" on the breast area. The jacket shows evident use throughout inclusive of several team repairs to several areas including black wool, white leather and button holes. MacGregor-Goldsmith manufacturer's tagging remains affixed to the interior tail area with size 44 indicator. An additional tag above the remaining MacGregor example is missing with vestiges of black thread visible which could well have been from the second period in which Mazeroski was issued the jacket. The tagging dates the offered jacket to the early 1950s era and was then subsequently issued to Mazeroski likely in the mid to late 1950s when he first was called up to the Major League club. Desirable Pirates equipment piece originating from the personal collection of one of the most notable players in franchise history. The jacket is currently not autographed by Bill Mazeroski but will be included if the winning bidder desires as much. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
