Description: Superb 1960 Bill Mazeroski Pittsburgh Pirates professional model road uniform with likely attribution to the 1960 World Series. Grey flannel vest style jersey and pants as worn by Mazeroski during the Pirates World Championship season of 1960. Jersey retains its original "Pirates" black on yellow lettering across the front matching piping remaining intact along the shirt perimeter. Proper MacGregor tagging found within the collar area having size 44 indicator with "Set 1 1960" flag tag inside the tail front. Back of jersey proudly displays the original "9" in black on yellow felt. Matching pants feature and inset strip tag within the waistline area having "9 34 25" chain stitched in red. Additional MacGregor and "Set 1 1960" flag tagging found as well. Also included is an original pair of Bill Mazeroski's black with yellow striped socks dating to the 1960s period. The uniform remains in stunning original condition with brilliant color and appropriate moderate evident use throughout. At the printing date of this catalogue we are not yet able to definitively state whether the offered uniform is in fact the specimen worn by Mazeroski during one, or all, of game #s 3-5 of the 1960 World Series played in New York. It is however highly likely that this particular uniform was in fact worn during the World Series based on several substantive circumstantial items to include: 1) Definitive original tagging to the 1960 season. 2) Fine overall condition as often found on jerseys manufactured and/or worn specifically for World Series play. 3) Confirmed removal of the uniform by Bill Mazeroski from his locker after the 1960 World Series along with the home example offered within this auction. While obviously not worn by Mazeroski during the epic Game #7 played in Pittsburgh this particular uniform is almost certainly without equal save for the home shirt worn in the aforementioned game. Condition, visual appeal, 1960 season dating, and sterling provenance equate to a true museum quality piece worthy of the most advanced collecting taste. The uniform is currently not autographed by Bill Mazeroski but will be included if the winning bidder desires as much.**Note: Please refer to our website for any updated information as to the 1960 World Series attribution. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions and notarized letter of provenance from Bill Mazeroski: EX-EX/MT
